yep the baby is going to get all the food and nutrients before mommy does! this is where mommy gets the left overs and it can be dangerous to mommy! she can get dehydrated and tired and sick! so make sure you tell her to eat at least 6 little meals a day to keep her metabolism up and so she can keep feeding the little cookie monster inside her belly!

is she sick all the time?? Is she hardly eating? Does she eat a lot one day and not eat at all? That could all be a cause of weight loss during pregnancy. I'm pregnant and I work with someone who is pregnant also. She's a month further than I am. I've gained about 12 pounds so far and shes lost about 20. She's always sick and hardly eats. Her doctor will probably take her off of work (if she works) until she is well enough to eat and gain weight. How far along is she? I know when I first got pregnant I lost 15 pounds really quick and didnt gain any weight until I was 4 1/2 months. Her prenatals could also be making her sick, tell her to try different ones

Yes it is possible if you're not eating all the time. I had really bad morning sickness since I was 6 weeks until now. I am now 40 weeks. Caused me to loose 17 pounds in about 4 1/2 weeks. Your baby will take what he/she needs from you no matter how much you are eating. I have only gained back 15 of the 17... Good luck and hope this helps.

It is possible for the baby to feed off the mother and the mother lost a little weight, but it shouldnt be a major weight loss.

No because the baby is fed through her blood stream (nutrients)
but if the mother to be has a poor diet the baby will feed off of her reserve nutrients which is cause for say mothers who have teeth trouble after pregnancy, if they are lacking in calcium in their diets the baby will still get the calcium from somewhere namely the bones and teeth of the mother

an unborn baby is basically a parasite, so yes. The only reason the mother's body doesn't attack the fetus is because the fetus sends out chemicals that trick the mother's body into thinking its a part of her. Thats why people who are Rh positive have to be careful, their systems won't pick up on those chemicals, and the mother's immune system will kill the fetus.

no, when the mother eats, the baby eats. The baby gets all its nutrients through the umbilical cord. When the baby is born, its tied off. Thats why pregnant women shouldnt smoke, drink, or do drugs. When a woman does these things, the baby takes it all in too. So pregnant women need to take care of themselves.

Yes. I was very ill with every pregnancy. My "morning sickness" lasted for 7 months. I lost tons of weight. Doctors said that the baby took nourishment from my muscles and that I would be the last one to receive the nourishment. I eventually had to be fed through tubes. It is dangerous for both mommy and baby. Is the mother ill? If she is not sick, than there is more concern to whether she is simply eating enough to nourish both her and the little bambino.

If a woman loses weight during pregnancy, she may not be able to adequately nourish the fetus. Weight loss can result in a breakdown of the mother’s fat stores, leading to the production of ketones in her blood and urine. The presence of ketones can result in a mental retardation in the fetus.

If you want some organism to feed off excess fat stores in your body, try a tapeworm. They are more efficient at this than a fetus.

yes, if the baby is on the outside of the womb, actually attached to other organs. The mother is drained of energy and possible weight loss
