Is the worldwide hatred of Bush just an excuse for people to reveal their anti-americanism? Is it because the europeans are jealous so they say outrageous things like "america is nazi germany" and "bush is hitler".

It really is disgusting that so many people hate america in the world. US invades Iraq to try to free the people there and the world is outraged. Yet when France invaded Algeria and massacred innocent civlians you hardly heard anything.
Another example:
When Israel attacks Hezbollah the UN and almost all nations are flipping out.
But when palestinians kidnap an israeli soldier you hardly hear anything.

I am not at all saying anti-bush = anti-americansim. But I sure as hell think non-americans use bush as an excuse for their anti-americanism.

People are so quick to blame the US for everything and call americans hypocritical. How about Russia? they fight the chechnians but when Israel fights Hezbollah, Russia is outraged.

It's largely the media (ours & foreign) and certain bad leaders in other countries (Chirac comes to mind) who no longer get huge bribes from Saddam & Co. who are upset with the US although it's true losers worldwide, including man who identify as loony lying lefty loser liberals here in the country, hate America and since Bush is a good president who's doing what Clinton should have he becomes a target so they can vent the hatred that was already there against him. I like to point out that those who claim Bush "created" terrorists with his policies are out and out IDIOTS and LIARS. It is true that Bush's forward looking activist policies on Iraq and other problem states may have caused people that needed to be exposed to come out of the woodworks, but think about it. Isn't it BETTER that they're blowing themselves up in IRAQ rather than here? I think it's GREAT that they are exposing themselves by coming out and making trouble IN IRAQ - Bush did the right thing by motivating them to show their true colors, I think. NO, people hated America mostly out of jealousy at our ability to create wealth and success. Read "CAN AMERICA SURVIVE" by Stein/DeMuth.

And reading over your answers from others - it's not the U.S. or BUSH that makes us the world's policeman. That's Democrats like the Clintons who are trying to do that along with the U.N. and the third world who think that we should be responsible for solving the problems they create. Now I don't have any problem with the U.S. ASSISTING in the effort to resolve world issues, but like with the whole Katrina thing, unless the people involved do their part and take personal responsibility & interest the effort is doomed to fail before it gets going.

1) I think the anti-Americanism is amplified from their hatred of Bush. And I don't think most European nations have anything to be really jealous about..
2) The US did NOT invade Iraq to free the people there. If you remembered be went there because we were 100% sure that there were Weapons of Mass Destruction.
3) Kidnapping 1 Israeli Solder < Israel bombing Beirut and sending in group troops.
4) I do agree with you to some extent. I do think people judge Americans as lazy and fat. But really, many Americans do the same thing with the rest of the world.

Hate is a really hard word. I think most europeans are laughing about Pres. Bush. But they don't laugh about his politics. (And of course it is not only HIS politics).

Actually I would say that our (european) idea of America has a renaissance. And most of us can distinguish among Pres.Bush, his politics, the USA and the people who live there.

It isn't right, that nobody discusses problems in the world or talk about the kidnapping of that israelian soldier. It is in the press all over. I think that most of the american people are not well informed. (I wouldn't say that they are not interested in foreign politics)

For example the war in Iraq. At that time I watched american and european television. The reporting about that war was so different. It seemed that there were two different issues. Not to talk about the pictures which were shown. I quite often phoned with my sister-in-law in the US. Her husband was at this time in Iraq. She didn't know what there really was going on. Then her husband get wounded and came to Ramstein in Germany. We visited him and he said: They didn't tell us the truth. I can't forget these words and as well I can't forget these many many young men there in the hospital, some of them so terribly wounded.
And why? To free iraqi people? Why not free the northern corean people, why not free the people in Palestine? Do you really think, that's the reason to make war? Things are not so simple. There are very own interests to act like the US government act.

And, we europeans don't hate america just as little we hate the americans. Why should we? The americans are very friendly people and nobody will forget what you have done for us in 2ww and after.
But maybe NOW they should look outside and watch what is really going on in this world. The USA formerly was well known as a country with a great free press. But I fear, that press is dead and most people don't care about. You are cheated out of knowledge and stuffed with propaganda. Maybe that is the reason why some say (and they don't say this officialy) america is a kind of nazi germany.

Bush has increased anti americanism all over the world and for good reason. We are acting like an aggressor nation and Bush just kind of said to the rest of the world that we will do what we want because we are the big guy in the world and no one can stop us. We do not invade other countries to free their people unless their country has something that we want ie OIL. Somehow we don't care to free people in countries that don't have anything we need ie Africa. Wake up our great country under Bush is a bully, and we are hated with good reason. By the way I consider myself a patriot and am proud to be American. Just ashamed that we were stupid enough to elect Bush twice.

I think people really hate Bush. I live in Europe now and people tell me all the time that they lost respect for America since Bush came into office but that they like American people in general, just not the government.

Bush should have NEVER made the U.S. the "police" to the rest of the planet. This is why everyone, including Americans, don't like Bush. We cannot dictate the gonverments of the others. To other nations, the U.S. isn't always right.

That just goes to show you what the media is saying about the U.S. They only tell one side and are extremely biased. The U.S. is a very popular country and the media knows these stories of Bush bashing will get ratings from the world and they will want more. It really is sad because even her own citizens are falling into the anti-American stereotype because of what the media preaches.
