Recharging Biorb Filter Cartridges?

Is it OK to do this???
Rinsed out the sponge filter and replaced the filtration media with aquarium zeolite resin and charcoal.
Cost Pennies to do as opposed to the £5 for a new filter

It should be alright for a short period of time, but don't expect it to do as good a job as the correct filter medium.

zeolite absorbs the amonia that the fish produce
