How do plus sizes work? I have seen sizes like 1X, 2X, 3x, and 18W, 20W, 22W. How do these all relate to each other?

I want clarify that I am interested in this info because I want to offer plus sized clothing on my website, not because I'm hating on plus sized people.

1X = 18-20
2X = 22-24
3X = 26-28

People still make fun of overweight people (catnip). So sad...and childish. Glad I have a life.

Depends on the maker.

W = Women's. It usually refers to the department that the clothing should be located in. On some clothing there is even a M for Missie's and/or a J for Juniors.

Some sizes in Missie's stop at 14 or 16, then the next size is designated by the W for Women's department, without it really meaning anything for cut, just department location.

Some have the size in both Missie's and a Women's. The main difference is that the Women's has a fuller cut; it's not as tailored. When it's offered in both, the Missie's is cut like the smaller sizes, the Women's is more loose.

X = Extra large. These are usually shirts or elastic pants that don't need to fit as well. The 1X can be a 16/18, or an 18/20. A 2X can be a 20/22 or a 22/24 (and so on). Clothing that's sized this way is a more baggy look. It can also look dumpy since there is little to no fitting it to the body's shape.

Check the size chart for that brand if you aren't sure what size you would need, or if it's for someone else, what size they would need.

Why is everybody being so harsh about larger riders? There is nothing wrong with larger people. If you live near altringham, then there is a shop called Estate Supplies,which I think does clothing in a wide range of sizes. If you google it then you may well find some, or ebay it. AlthoughI personally am a size 6, then there is nothing wrong with plus size riders! YOU GO GIRL AND IGNORE ALL THOSE NASTY COMMENTS ABOUT RUNNING ALONGSIDE THE HORSE ETC. IF THE HORSE DIDNT LIKE YOU, THEN HE WOULDNT LET YOU GET ON/WOULD THROW YOU OFF STRAIGHT AWAY! i'M SURE HE LOVES YOU AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE HIM!

I'm not an expert, but I think the x's are the sizes over the regular 'xl'...xxl, xxxl, etc. I assume that the w's along with the sizes relate to 'women's'. now, what the numbers mean...? i don't know.
