seems to me like your brain is working faster then your mouth can keep up ...before you go to talk about one particular thing maybe you should clear your mind and absorb it slowly if you practice going a little slower maybe you can over come this good luck oh yea and another thing is how excited are you about the subject if you are overexcited maybe you just ramble on

If I may make a suggestion. This might help, but than again it might not, but you're asking for a new solution. Alone in your room:
Just practice singing any thoughts you would speak to someone. It might help give you some slower rhythm, and pronounce the word structure a little slower. If you can hear your speech patterns and understand what you are saying, maybe other people will. Hey, it's worth a try.
When people sing, their pronunciation becomes slower and the native accent seems to disappear some how. Which makes it clearer to understand. Just one idea.

You would be wise to see your doctor who can recommend the name of a good speech therapist for you.

They will teach you how to slow down your speach and you will learn how to pronounce each and every word you speak!
You can of course have a practice at home by recording yourself speaking normally and then playing it back so you are able to hear what others are hearing.
Then record yourself again but this time speaking a little slower and forming your letters and words correctly.

It won't happen overnight it will take a lot of time and you may feel very stupid doing the excercises the speech therapist may suggest, but all good things come to those who wait, so have patience and practice practice practice.

I wish you luck

i Hello... Calm down.
You know what you need to do, you just don't have the patience to do it.
Force yourself to slow down. Even your question sounds frantic and is almost typed as one, long word. A speech therapist could help, but that's expensive. You might try reading a book aloud as slowly as you can - and don't cheat. You know when you're speeding up and it's hard for people to understand you when you do. Thy might become so bothered by it that they stop listening completely and you don't want that.
In my Yahoo! group there are Messages and links covering interesting, complex things that you'll need to slow down to fully enjoy.
I'll bet you do everything at 100 miles per hour. Reading fast is good to get your school work done as long as it's not so fast that you miss the meaning of what you read.
When you talk too fast, it can sound like a blur to some people and they'll just ignore you so you've got to slow down if you want to be taken seriously and understood. Just use common sense and you'll be fine. It's not like you've got some terrible disability that you can't control.
I'll give you some sites that would be fun to read slowly and please join my Yahoo! group so I can try to find some sites to specifically help you.
Your friend,
tutorJB :)

I guess we both have that problem. If you speak spanish then it's rather normal for us to speak fast. it's just something we do. All those suggestions about speach therapist are good but they tend to cost too much for middle class america. The best thing you can do is, before you start talking, tell yourself to talk slow. You may think you sound stupid, and believe me you will, but it will help you to speak slower.

Also if you practice speaking slow in your non english language then that may also transfer over to english.

It takes time and is not the easiest thing to do but with work and dedication you should be fine.

Hope i helped!

It seems you are not ntive English speaker but everybody who is good in speaking different languages cannot slow down them selves by doing that. It is my own experiance but don't worry just you have to do try hard to speak slowley. It also seems like you are thinking too much on what you are speaking try to think little.
This might reduce your speaking speed. But hey I am not a doctor or expert so I am not sure this will work for you or not.
BUt try it you don't have to loose anything. Good Luck...

Solution Get a metronome. Set it to a slow cadence.

Practice your elocution according to that cadence.
Record yourself and critique

Practice singing slow songs.
Record yourself and critique.

Read plays & poetry. If you are speaking fast, then the emotional expression is probably lost as well. Reading plays, poems singing, and listening to the cadence, will give you voice and speach concsiosness.

If you were to take time out and think about what you want to say to people I know for a fact you will slow it down, also think about others when you are talking. What is your hurry anyway? Try to make a long story short because if you have to repeat it it won't be so frustrating.

Anxiety. Relax. Controlled breathing. Think b4 speech. Best conversationalists are those that listen. practice yoga or at least the part of breathing and meditation.

Time/life is realitive. If you rush through
you'll be done before you are finished.

good luck

DON,T WORRY YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS!

It would be helpful for you, if you could consult a good speech therapist .

speed talking ,makes it difficult to get people to understand
exactly what you are saying to them .

you will be amazed, at how many "quick thinking" people ,
have this problem .

She / he will give you breath control exercises and you will learn how to control the pace of your words .

.
with a little perseverance, you will be able to make yourself
understood again .

I am certain you will be fine soon.
all best ....
