a nice beige or camel would be nice. grey is always safe.

Hey, if you know the general "coloring" of the man that will help. I mean, you might choose something different for a freckled red head than a guy with really dark hair.
Otherwise, I don't think there are many rules. I would stay away from pastels and just knit with something YOU like. I love my husband in maroon or burgundy colors. I also like dark greens. Someone suggested a camel color, which would be the most likely to match whatever kind of coat he has.
