(I am working on this question for ECON and it seems the answers I am finding are somewhat subjective).

Here is a table of gpp growth by quarter for the previous 3 1/2 years.

2003 1st q 1.2%
2n q 3.5%
3rd q 7.2%
4th q 2.5%
2004 1st q 3.9%
2nd q 4.0%
3rd q 3.2%
4th q 2.6%
2005 1st q 3.3%
2nd q 3.2%
3rd q 4.2%
4th q 1.8%
2006 1st q 5.6%
2nd q 2.5%

The fact that the statistics vary so greatly makes me suspicious as to their validity. This is the government we are dealing with.

GDP has been pretty flat. Below is a web site where you can get lots of information on it.
