2 other outlets are operational and it is on a string. what do I need to find where the dead wire inside the wall?

If the outlets are wired in series, it's probable that the dead outlet simply has a wire that has come loose from the side of the outlet.

Turn off the power to the outlets.

Remove the cover plate. Unscrew the top and bottom screws that hold the outlet to the metal box.

Pull it out far enough to inspect the screws on the side, and reconnect the wires firmly. Remount the outlet in the box.

Turn on the power and try the outlet. If it works, put the cover plate back on.

If it doesn't work, you'll need to use a meter to locate the dead wire.

I am a Journeyman electrician with 15 years of experience and have made too many service calls to houses when the owner tried to fix it himself. 75 percent of the time it the owner's help made the situation worse

You can buy a test lite for a couple dollars....My guess, it is a bad plug, not the wire in the wall

that is 2 am the place you reside?? It' happening 6 right here. yet, no the lady around the line from me likes to bump woman Gaga at evening. to one element my dad had to flow over there in slippers at 2:40 5 am
