All college students wear bookbags - some wear the sling-type that cross across the front of your body, so it is a little more like what you were describing, but you need a way to carry all of your books around campus! Definitely invest in a good backpack! Good luck!

Yes, most college students do wear bookbags. I am currently in college and living in the city of Chicago in the area where they're more than 5 colleges around. I don't see a problem with using one, especially if you find a really cute one!

I do and this is my second year of college. I have maybe two to three books I have to carry a day. You wont be a loser if you carry a bookbag, really you will be smart. Id rather look like a loser than have a bad aching back :)

Well, you have a few choices:
- Wear a normal bookbag and be comfortable.
- Wear a messenger bag (like what you described), look cool, but be in pain.
- Carry your books (which would be a pain).
You shouldn't care what others think, but since you do, if it helps, both my roommates (I'm in a Triple) have bookbags. I don't have one only because I forgot it at home, so I'm going to just use my messenger bag.
Best of luck in college!

Trust me, you are gonna fit right in with a backpack bookbag. ALL college students have loads of stuff to lug around.
You can get some really cool and durable ones at sporting goods stores if you can sink a few extra bucks into it. It should last you through your whole college career.

Speaking as a former college student who attended college last semester, lots of student use bookbags. Use something comfortable and hopefully you won't need your books every day. Some teachers say that and you'll never actually use it in class every day or ever.

Yes of course you should wear a bookbag, but also alot of colleges have lockers you can also use throughout the day just take a master lock to lock it when your stuff is in the locker.

Most college students at my school don't, only for the reason that it is such a small school and most of us try to avoid back-to-back classes. It's not that it is uncool, just not necessary to carry that much stuff. You normally don't have to bring your books to your classes, and rarely would you have more than one book that you are using for a given class. If you don't have time to head back and do need your books, then wear a backpack. But after the first week you'll know whether or not you'll need your books (but trust me, you rarely will need them, they are more for at home study), and can decide to wear a messenger bag or carry them then. What most students use their backpacks for is for studying in the library/lab. That is when you need to carry all of those books, and trust me, no one cares if the style network approves them.
Good Luck! Study hard and play harder!
