Uh.. I'm not sure what the question is.. are you asking as if you work at a diner? Or are you asking as if what to wear while eating there? If you're working there, I'm sure there would be a dress code. Probably a certain color of pants or skirt, white shirt, apron, etc. I'd also recommend comfy shoes. If you're going to eat there.. wear whatever you want. It's a diner, not a 5 star restaurant. Just don't go naked.. you'd get kicked out.

for a diner I go in whatever I'm wearing. I live in jersey and most the diners are slums, if I go to a restaurant I wear chinos and a nice top also do my hair and makeup. For really nice restaurants I have a killer little black dress I wear with heels

If it is a diner, just something clean and presentable.
But, if you are going to DINNER at a restaurant, then choose something a little more nice. Dinner should be enjoyed, and after all, how often do you treat yourself to such extravagancies?

If it's a fancy restaurant, I try to wear a pantsuit, skirt, or dress. If it's just a Denny's type restaurant, it really doesn't matter what you wear, as long as you are appropriately covered (no bathing suits, etc).
Hope this helps!
