I see on this site all the time about how someone doesn't like someone else because of skin color. When did this idea that light skin is better start, for real? Does anyone know? What is so bad about being almond/tan/brown skinned? Most of the people on the planet fall into the "non-white" category, so what is the problem? I myself don't care, but so many people apparently do that I am just curious as to how they justify this imagined "superiority". And if white is best, why are there so many tanning salons?

I never said only whites care, I just never see anyone saying dark skin is best. I am asking about what i have observed, not making blanket assumptions

When some people are prejudiced against a particular race, it's not only the exact shade of skin that they have in mind. If a certain race is causing problems far out of their proportion to the overall population, drugs, murders, slews of kids by single mothers, robberies, and a lot more, some will be against that race. They may, themselves be of a darker shade than some of those they're prejudiced against.
So it's not the exact shade of skin. Many are against those who cross our border illegially, and we should all be so. We should all be against everything illegal. If we're not, then our laws have no meaning.

I don't think it's safe to assume that only white people care about skin color, or that they care more about it than people of color do.
