I got a job offer for 60K/yr as a logistics analyst in south NJ. I had been terminated 6 mos. back from my last consulting job for a tiny company after barely 2 mos, but after looking for work for a while I kinda gave up and got myself admitted into the Masters in Accounting program at UT Austin. Now after 1 month into my new program one of the companies I had interviewed 40 days back finally offerred me 60K for a job. I feel that if I was in a finance/ accounting to begin with I wouldnt have to wait for so long to get another job. SO what do you all think...should I continue in the accounting masters or take up the job? I have substantial scholarships for the MAcc program . On the other hand the salary is 60K. WHich would be better in the long run?

if you can float yourself during the period it would take to get your masters then do that. with the accounting masters you will augment your present professional earning skills. is the accounting/finance fields one of your personal goals or just a means to an end?
money isn't everything, but if this job is really what you have been hoping for, then take it. find out if your UT Austin program can be done on line. if not then maybe you can apply for a NJ program or resume getting your masters at a later date. the masters is a great idea so don't shelve it. pursuit of it within a year is a good time period to me, so you don't lose your edge or the desire. weigh everything... the relocation, cost of living in NJ and the long term benefits. maybe Sony will offer you education/tuition programs and/or assistance. are your scholarships transferable?
they say when one door closes another opens, but the in between can be a b***h! assess your current needs and get all the facts and look at this situation again after you have chilled for a couple of hours. remember to just breathe and have faith in yourself, you seem to be a survivor and you won't sink, you'll swim. congrats and good luck on whatever you coose to do.

I would say take the job...even though it is tough you can work on your masters part time. Even with the extra education there is really no guarantee that you will walk into a great job once you graduate. I guess it really depends on several factors, such as how long it would take to complete the program (i.e. if it is a full time 3 year program are you willing to give up 180,000 AND have to pay the tuition costs for those three years to get the masters degree), demand/salary expectations for accountants wherever you plan to live (which probably isn't much to worry about in the area you are talking about). Also bear in mind that Sony is huge...there must be a lot of room for advancement and progression. How much do you think you will be making after 3 years of employment? (i'm assuming that the masters program is going to take 3 years, substitute the correct timeframe) How would that compare to where you would be after graduating with a masters degree? The answers to these questions should set you on the right path. I hope this helps.

I think you should take the job. You can go to school part-time and finish your masters at the same time. In fact, some companies encourage their employees to go to school by offering them the time and money to do it, because you become more valuable of an employee when you do. Just call up the company and schools around the area and see if you can work something out. If you can't find a suitable arrangement then just go to school and try for a job later.

Well this is kinda hard, but it depends on how you look at it. If you're looking at the present, the job is the excellent choice. What you've been offered is what grad students are working toward. On the other hand, if you're looking into the future, ultimately a Masters degree will take you farther and will certainly look good on your resume. Either way, you'll be successful.

Hi, I have an acquaintance with some one who works for Sony, and has for a few years. The company is not what it used to be, and I think you should go to school. There will be lots of other opportunities for jobs, but not the time (or money ) for school. I would advise my college age children the same thing.

I live in NJ, and $60,000 may sound like a great salary, but here in NJ you may be sorry. Believe it or not, NJ is one of the most expensive places in the country to live. We have THE HIGHEST property taxes in the nation and you don't want to know about car insurance! So while 60K sounds great, its not going to go as far here as you would expect. Stay in school.

I would take the job. You could always continue your education at another college. Also, this new job might have an education cost replacement which would pay for your schooling.

I would stay in school, your more valuable with a Masters. 60K is peanuts compared to what you could attain with a Masters. Not to mentin the respect of your peers.

definitely, i did no longer see something incorrect which incorporate your nostril, it suits your face basically nice. basically recognize that nostril jobs can substitute someone's face dramatically each so often. And if something, the only reason you will possibly think of you have a miles better nostril than wide-spread is using the fact it basically looks that way because of the fact your chin is a splash small. yet do no longer upload that as yet another situation.
