Whats a 2.1 division 1 mean to you as a degree result?

a first is the best, then 2.1 2.2, and anything less is a fail, but recently my wife obtained her joint honours 2.1 division 1, basically just missed the 1st

This happened to me too. Once you've got the degree though no-one asks what division it was. It can be important in defining a starting salary for some jobs, like teaching for example, but that's about it. Well done to your wife!
