Hi!
The current coach is Roberto Donadoni.
He's currently trying new players. The players that won the World Cup will play for him too (at least some of them). Totti is one of them, by the way.
He (Totti) announced that he was going to retire, but a couple of days ago he said that he will continue playing for the azzurri. And Donadoni has always said that he wants Totti to play with the team for the Euro 2008.

Luca Toni didn't perform as well as anyone thought he would during the world cup. In serie A He's a goal scoring machine but he didn't really do it for the Italian squad. Maybe thats why they're gonna put Cassano on instead of him. Del Piero and Totti were OK though. Hope they don't replace them.

Donadoni (doh-nah-doh-nee) MUST replace some aging players.
Del Piero is 34
Materazzi, Cannavaro, Inzaghi 33 ...
Most are close - or over - 30...
Cassano already was in the team (Euro 2004) and he was - if not impressive - ovre than average level. He's a GREAT player in skills and has an entertaining style, but he's definitively a REBEL, his temper often disappointed his coaches, only one of them was really able to TAME him, the name is - of course - Fabio Capello, his actual coach in Real Madrid. I'm quite sure he's worthy to play in the 23-men Italy line-up and Del Piero is too old to have him as main actor in Euro 2008, so I guess it's right to give Cassano his chance.
Please note anyway ---
1. Those are still rumours
2. Totti is still in Italy default line-up
3. I'm Juventus and Del Piero fan, so mine perspective isn't due to supporting ... Cassano is a GREAT player ...

his determination would be a club in the two Spain or Italy. He somewhat needs to coach the Portuguese national team and if he coaches a club, it probable will in basic terms be for a short era.

its gonna do bad because he is gonna mess up the team and the way they think they are the key men in that team and who have deserved there place in the team where as cassano has been injured and propably is not back in form yet so it is a stupid decision

Roberto Donadoni may be a good coach but not as good as Marcello Lippi ...Lippi new his players inside out and I also admire him as a person. For me, NO ONE can replace Marcello Lippi, he will always be the best !

I think he definitely deserved a chance like any other coach. Its left to be seen whether something good or bad will happen.
