You could start waxing your new car now. That's after a good washing. And continue waxing every month (seasonal).

It wouldn't hurt to start the day you bought it, and some people wax it everytime they wash it, but once a month should be okay, just really depends on where you live (weather conditions, pollution, etc ... the more hash the conditions ... the more often you want to wax it)

I was always told that waxing your car too much is bad for the finish...I only do mine two or three times a year at the most.

up to once a week and if you live in a cold climate dont forget to get it extra heavy around the inside of the wheel wells to prevent bubble thru rust
