Interesting. Cells have memories of their original donors and are passed on to recipients. And the brain is so complex who knows what would happen. It functions as the head of the CNS but also more so in creative matters and personality and on and on. And yet we have a soul(I think) which could be in someway be connected to the brain, where they work in unison. .......well we can only guess, not enough known facts. I guess I think it is more organ as little as we know so we would be the same person with some added memories. What about clones and cloning?

now, by brain transplant, i assume you mean that my brain is placed into another individual's body, right? obviously i am right, if i were wrong, then we would assume that you mean that someone else's brain was put into my body. then i'd be dead, hence, she gets my body.
unless, you mean that some other lady and i switched bodies? if that were the case, i guess i'll give it a shot at answering you question:
well, i would still be myself, of course, i am the brain, not the body. the body is a home for the brain and the only thing the brain needs is a body to support it. so, yes, i would still be myself; however, my appearance would be different now.
is that good enought?

No you would not, the cells would have originated from you but it would not be you, when you give a kidney or heart transplant, does that make you them? No,of course not. You are your brain cells in essence, without them you'd have no memory of past or sense of personality for past learned experience. So you are your brain, whereever your brain is, you are, although the brain needs a body, heart, lungs and other aspects of body to keep it functioning, in and of itself it is what you are. Which is why people can get arms and legs amputated, but if anyone ever took your head off, you'd be done.

well scientificly speaking ..no becuase you would now have the memories, emotions, and personality of another human being...all our memories are stored in the brain and our memories make us who we are...so no techinically you wouldn't but if you want to take a more spiritual look at the situation then yes you would be the same person becuase i don't think kindness and love and hate and all those strong emotions come from the brain i think they come from our soul...so you might have different memories and different hobbies but inside you will still be either kind and loving or wicked or w/e you were before you got the transplant becuase of your soul

I think my personality would stay with the brain, wherever it went, sans some changes because of body chemistry differences.

Girl has half her brain and she's no different than before. The question of whether or not your consciousness and memories are located in your brain are tested by her condition. If the brain itself stored memories, than wouldn't the loss of half her brain destroy some of her memories?
I'm inclined to say that if two brains were transfered, than your consciousness, cognition, and memory would go with them. But she retains hers. Its one hell of a mystery.

Your mind, your identity, has little to do with your brain. However, what you truly are is always changing, so, purely by dint of the experience, you would be a different person.

No, because what makes you, you is your socialization, which is basically your experiences with life. There's no way to transfer that into a new brain without it first experiencing it.

No. Not if it were my brain in someone else's body or someone else's brain in my body. We are not the sum total of our brain...we're the sum total of our body, brain and soul.

No. You would look like yourself, but with a different brain, you'd have different memories and reactions.
