Pregnancy, very lean body mass, endocrine or pituitary disorder. Take her to see a gynecologist.

it depends.
did it happen after she got only her first period?
or was her period always not very precise?
as far as i know, some times during the first year of menstrual cycles the time interval from one period to another can change alot
one must also think of a syndrome called: the poly cystic ovary syndrome whice is also accompanied by "acne", hirsutism and long delays (if at all) in the menstrual cycle. Ultra Sound can help detect that and in that case "the pill" is a good solution till pregnancy is an issue.
other than that one must think of a pregnancy - but that would probably be visible enough and won't last 10 month.
one last thing: strict diet can cause stopping of m"c for long time - until one begins again to eat as she should...
hope i helped!

Ok, I've been there. I weighed 85 pounds at 5'3", not anorexic, just had an undiagnosed case of Grave's Disease, or hypothyroidism. All of the above answers are absolutely right. You should be concerned about the period loss, since it is a symptom of something. Any doctor who tells you that it is nothing to worry about is not looking hard enough to find it ... I've been there, I know. Please go to a doctor. None of the conditions are life-threatening, but all appeal to the quality of life. The only instance mentioned above that you don't need to worry about is extreme athleticism, since I assume that is a desired trait. Thanks -- and good luck!

Actually my daughter went through that for 9 months. Not pregnant, no cyst, they couldn't find anything wrong with her.
The doctor prescribed her a birth control pill and after the first month she got her period, She stayed on the pill for another 6 months, by that time everything was regulated.

Almost anything. I have read some of the answer and all are good possibilities. You really need to see the doctor about this. There are too many possiblities for you to figure this out on your own.

sometimes athletes skip periods. if you're a runner or you do an intense sport or ballet or something like that, you can go without getting a period for awhile

being unhealthy in general can cause you to miss your period. If you're not eating right, or not getting the right nutrients, you could be in trouble.

see a doctor

Are you having some eating disoder? You might have anorexia nervosa? If your body doesn't get anough nutrition, especially iron, you won't be on your period. This can be dangerous. You should go check with the doctor.

This is not healthy. Your hormones are there and working the way they do for a reason. You may see long term effects such as cancer, early menopause, and erratic hormonal balance.

you want to stop it or it has stopped?

If you're wanting to stop it some birth control pills can do this

if it has stopped and your not sure why I'd really suggest seeing a Doctor.
