I own a Buell X1, but I just wish there were companies making in-line 4 water cooled bikes in the U.S.

Most Americans are not into performance. We want big old honkers that weigh 800 lbs and make 60 horse power, with lots of chrome, heritage and American pride.

There aren't ANY companies making in-line 4 cylinder sport bikes, even Buell. Eric Buell uses modified Harley Sportster-based V-Twins and they aren't liquid-cooled.
But it's mainly because the Japanese have been doing it for decades and are better at it than any American company dares.

Two factors. 1) Price of American vs. Price of Imports. 2) Supply & Demand.

Don't sweat the made in America thing. After all, the import you buy is being sold at an American dealership, right? And the accessories you buy for it are sold by American companies (sometimes anyway). And you're buying your gas from American gas stations......etc.
