Yep, you sound just like me, I just keep quiet 'cause we true music freaks tend to get stared at like we've grown a third eye. People just seem to feel like you can and should only like one genre of music, or something is horribly wrong with you But I can relate to everything you said, and have been this way all of my life. Music freaks Salute!

p.s. Bye Bye Miss American Pie makes me cry too. Especially when you know all of the meanings behind the lyrics.

I love music. I thought that was a completely normal thing, until my parents told me they were worried that I might be obsessed... I don't have the range of tastes you do, though- and I think its awesome that you like so many different kinds. Personal favorite genre: Old school punk- you know, 70s and 80s stuff (Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Damned), and some of the late 60s precursors, like MC5 and the Velvet Underground (started late 60s). Indie rock (Towers of London), metal (Guns N' Roses- you gotta love the classics), classic rock (The Who, Jimi Hendrix), hard rock, alternative rock and grunge (Nirvana, of course. X is grungey punk) are also good. I'm also a big fan of combinations of genres- I don't really listen to R&B by itself, but R&B/Rock is pretty awesome- the Clash experimented with it, and that's pretty much what Sublime and 311 are.

And I'm really happy cause I just found this band called Wild Youth on myspace that is seriously kicka**. You should check 'em out: http://www.myspace.com/wildyouthpunkrock
REALLY good post-punk. I don't personally believe in the existance of modern punk, but if I hear some more of them, they might convince me.

Personally, I think we're due for a new genre, or a new fusion of genres. One of my favorite songs by the Clash, Overpowered by Funk, has a bit of rapping at the end, and I think it adds a lot (the Clash were musical geniuses when it came to fusing genres).

By the way, do you play any instruments? I've been wanting to learn guitar, and I'm JUST starting now.

I have been a music freak for about 20 years. I like most kinds of music, but not all.
I also used to live for music. It was the only thing I had in this life that I cared about. I still love music, but now I listen to mostly instrumental or christian music. Since I've been filled with God's spirit, I no longer get depressed.
Sorry I don't have IM. But you can email me at pmzenz@yahoo.com.

My 23 yr old daughters name is "Lorelei", after the Styx song... My 17 yr old sons name is "Uriah", after the band Uriah Heep... Never had what it takes to name one Dweezel or Moon Unit, but I still feel like I am quite the fan... My interest range is not as varied as yours...I am still stuck in the late 60's/early 70's kinda thing...
Who could listen to Montrose's "Bad Motor Scooter", and not want to go out and tear it up a bit...??!!?? Rock On.......
