You are absolutily correct. Socialism has been installing itself upon this country for years. One of the main points of socialism is the downfall of private property. In this country we don't own our property, ie no Allodial Titles for land. Also we have a progressive income tax. This is one of the ten plancks of the communist manifesto. I understand the difference between communism and socialism, but Marx said the stage between capitalism and communism is socialism.
"Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes." Marx and Engels from the communist manifesto. Also Marx goes on to say that communism is the abolition of private property.
Remember this: "The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is no force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. Property must be secured or liberty cannot exist."
-John Adams
I think also the America people fail to realize that the creeping of the Federal Government into the economy also leads to tyranny. FA Hayek presented this in The Road to Serfdom.

Actually, I have to give you that one.
The Democratic party as a whole seems to embrace most of the concepts of socialism, and has long ago departed from the ideas of liberalism. They favor big government, social regulation and control of resources, and far too much interference with free market economy. Much like the Neo-cons who have abandoned the fiscal conservative platform, using a large centralized federal govt to push their social agenda.
Most of the true liberals, as well as many fiscal conservatives, have gone over to the Libertarian party, where small government and personal liberties are valued.
So, I think you are right in the case, that Democrats as a party are pushing a socialist agenda while improperly claiming to be liberal (which they're not any more).

Why is it that all you neocon posters resort to the most juvenile name calling? I do not allow my children to name call! Try finding a grammar book!!!
Now to answer your question, such as it was. If by socialism you mean a return to true Christian values of helping your fellow Americans through a social safety net, clean air and water, safe food and drugs, affordable healthcare, public education and transit and the other things that most people expect from our government, then yes, we are surely turning socialist. You Republicans have been making that Chicken Little argument for almost 50 years since the rise of McCarthyism, and it has yet to come to pass.

You ought to find another pastime than trying to demonize "the other side". And by the way, Socialist or Liberal or Progressive are not insults. They are names given to people who like to think for themselves, who don't just bend to whoever is in charge.
If I had a dollar for everytime a Republican shouted "Communist" at me I'd have... well I'd have five dollars.
But seriously, you really ought to stop with your rants cos all you're doing is making your side look like a bunch of scared non-thinking abuse-throwers.

capitalism is the way that U.S.A. has become the envy of the world. if people don't like the status of their current living environment, you change it. don't accept the status quo. people who work harder deserve the fruits of their labor. they will be richer, while the ones who sit on their hands will be poor. it's a fact of life. Socialism taxes you to death. I want to decide where my money is used. you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it is" free" under socialism

Socialism doesn't work, look at Canada's failure of a medical programme, and the U.S.S.R. for evidence.
