Actually, "hissed at her like a snake" is more of a simile than a metaphor. "The stone in his chest" (a reference to a hard cold heart) is a metaphor

sorry. that is a simile, not a metaphor.
simile= a comparison of 2 things using the words like or as.
metaphor= a comparison of two things without using the words like or as.

a metaphor is a comparison that doesnt use like or as...thats a simile...
