Give the fish that is chasing him a time out by netting him out of the tank as soon as you see him chasing. Put him in a breeding net for 24 hours in the same tank. This way, he stays in the same water and is not harmed by the change in water quality. This helps with some fish, others... not.
Lots of hiding places are needed when you keep agressive fish (cichlids), is that what you have?

Make sure your fish is supposed to be with the other fish in the tank. You might have added aggresive fish to a tank that has a non-aggressive fish...BAD IDEA!

get some rocks so he can hide behind. plus what kind of fish is it and what fish did you have in there. many agressive fish need the tank stirred up and things moved around when you add a new fish so that there is no territory set up and they can redraw the lines.

Make sure they are compatible. The other fish might be trying to kill it.
