Because Tony Stewart is a race car driver and is more concerned about how he is doing on the track rather than being concerned with how he looks. He's not trying to be a pretty boy ala Kasey Kahne nor is he posing for magazine covers like Carl Edwards!!

Tony has said that he is purchasing exercise equipment and will try to lose some weight, he said this after he began climbing the fences when he wins races. And if ya ask me...if a man Tony's size can climb fences like that then there must not be anything wrong with him.

If you look at the drivers after they have gotten out of the cars after the races you will notice that all of them are sweaty and out of breath, Tony Stewart is not the only one like that!! Plus...Tony likes fine to me.

Tony is just Tony. He has other things on his mind. He has a job to do. If every racer signed all the autographs that they are asked for, there wouldn't be time to race. Anyway, he's not trying to be a role model, so children must be very careful who they choose.

He's more entertaining than Gordon, or Johnson any day of the week. There is a point in every celebrity's life, that they say enough is enough. Life is too short to always play by everyone else's rules. You have to make a choice to actually put your foot down, and have your own way once in a while.

He was doing some weight-training for a while. Don't know if he still is or not. This is just another way for him to do things on his own terms.

Tony is a bachelor and he looks like one. Many bachelors I have known don't care about their appearance. I bet he does take a daily shower, even though he doesn't shave daily. If you notice, his clothes always look clean. It's just the "day's growth" that makes his look grungy. As for his size, I think that is genetics, not a matter of fat. He is a stocky guy. Have you noticed how much better he is acting lately? I am starting to like him more and more.

The real question is, why are you SO WORRIED about HIS looks. Has nothing to do with his driving, so it really does NOT matter.

And I dunno what's goin on with the whole autograph thing, but i'll tell you this....once year a few years ago at Talladega.....there Tony had just walked across the stage and was walking towards the truck (to parade around the track) and signing autographs on the way there, there was a little boy that wanted an autograph but he didn't have time b/c they were pulling him into the truck.....so Tony took the kid, and the kid not only got an autograph but he also go to ride around the track with Tony on the parade lap. All drivers have their bad days they are NOT perfect, just like you and I aren't so give them a break, but as far as i'm concerned, on this subject, Tony's a cool guy.....he's also involved in the Victory Junction Camp......so that's what I have to say about that.

Not sure, maybe he's shooting for the "Bad Boy" look but you'll never believe this. I think he might actually be pretty nasty.

My husband was given a behind the scenes pass before one of the Nascar races. He was able to sit in on a session with Tony Stewart in which the audience was able to ask questions. At the end of the brief session, a little boy (the only child that was present with less than 50 adults) asked for Tony's autograph. Tony refused and walked out. Talk about a Scrooge. It was a little kid for Pete's sake.

Safe to say, I'm no longer a fan!

Hey, not every driver wants to, or has to look like they're GQ models...I like Tony Stewart 'as is'. No one is perfect, and NASCAR drivers don't always have to be gorgeous...they're not in racing to be sexy or cool...they're in NASCAR to race stock cars and win races and championships. That's what really matters.

BTW Tony has looked nice on some occasions. Obviously, you've never seen him at the awards ceremony in New York. And I have pictures of Tony where he's dressed to impress.

I've actually seen him in person, he's a pretty nice guy and he's got a great sense of humor too!

So Tony is a little rough around the edges, this is what I like about him. He is not trying to play the pretty rich boy, but just being himself. Tony is not overweight he looks great, so get off of him.

If no one has noticed EVERYONE is going for the grungy scruffy look here lately...including Dale Jr. Tony Stewart is HOT and you aren't.

I don't think Tony is nasty. You try looking good after driving in a really hot car for 3-4 hours. He actually looks pretty cute clean shaven. He isnt really all that fat either. I love Tony just the way he is

To those of you who commented that all the drivers are sweaty after a race, yes that is true. But Tony is still the grungiest looking and the sloppiest. Even when he "cleans up" he looks sloppy and nasty.
