Several of them.

Two on WWII destroyers while crossing the Atlantic in 1955. One as a flight instructor in Pensacola, FL; when we had to fly out our aircraft to avoid damage by the wind and flooding. Once when the USS Yorktown, an old aircraft carrier, had to put to sea to avoid damage by smashing against the pier in Pearl Harbor. And several others where I just sat them out at home.

The thing to remember about them all is that most of the damage does not come directly from the wind. Although, the wind can do some damage. Most of the damage comes from the water...the base surge, the rain, dams and levees leaking, and so on.

Read http://www.1900storm.com/orphanage.lasso for an account of the Great Galveston Storm of 1900, which killed more than 6,000 people...mostly due to high water blown off the Gulf of Mexico.

When I lived in South Carolina, there was a hurricane on the way.. luckily, you have plenty of warning [if you are paying attention], so I spent FOUR DAYS packing up my things.. getting them up high.. boarding up windows.. securing everything.. I was so exhausted by the time we evacuated to the base [I was Air Force at the time] that I slept through the whole thing!

Yes, many. I live right in " Hurricane Alley ". so I've lived through one after another. Some were real bad, and some just an inconvenience.

Yes I have, and I guess you include typhoons in this. The first I ever experienced had 120MPH winds with higher gusts. Fascinating to see the palm trees bending just like in the films.

Yes and it was on a boat besides. I promised myself to never do anything that stupid again... I don't think I have ever been so terrified... it was Hurricaine Keith and it was just a level 2 but that was enough for me.
