NO! I hold freedom of speech with as much (extremely high) regard as freedom of .44 magnums and separation of church and state.

My favorite dream is where I catch a senator or rep passing a law and quoting "because it is a sin" and the Supreme Court allows me to perform the execution for a crime against the constitution.

I usta have press and religion in that group, but both of them have got out of hand and a little uppity.

If a child hears and recognizes foul language...they will usually announce the offence to someone quite rapidly. If the offender hears the child and has an ounce of maturity they will stop or stall the language. If the language continued I would take the kids elsewhere.
If I was at a veniew that I payed for, I would explain to the management that the profanity was not allowing me to get my money's worth and something should get done. If the problem couldn't get fixed then and there, I would leave the kids with whom ever was in charge, go back and close the #@$!%*'s mouth myself.

Nope. I think that swearing is a part of life and is a natural way of expressing ourselves. If the language is directed at my child I would say something. But I have no problem with swearing and I love swearing. I considerate to be a colourful way to express ones self. However, I think that there ARE appropriate times for swearing and I personally would not do it infront of other peoples kids. But who the hell am I to tell someone else what to do.

I really don't. I use foul language in front of my child... but not in front of anyone elses. My child is 8 and have used profanity in front of me or her mother, grandparents, teachers, etc.. I have a friend who uses the n-word, and I talk to him about that. Its not so much of a racist thing, he's black and maybe shouldn't use the word, but you have to admit its different than a Klansman. If the bad word is racist, sexist or sexual is nature I would say something.

Nope...
That stranger, unless they just walked in my house and began spewing foul language, has every right to say whatever the hell they want
BUT I would still expect my child to know they can't get away with the same behavior...cause that's a parent's right

Yes I have and will continue to do so. But some people are just rude and have no home training. If it's okay for them to use their foulness in front of my children, then it's okay for me to tell them to cork it until my kids are out of earshot. It's not a freedom of speech thing, it's a matter of respect for little ears.

No, I wouldn't. When I'm in public and I accidentally slip out a swear word, I know it's rude and try to refrain, but it's my freedom of speech. If I have a problem with the way someone's talking in front of my children, I would take them to a different location. If there is no location where there aren't people swearing, then you probably took your children to a wrong event.

I have. It was at the outdoor public pool one summer and there was one boy around 12 that just kept using bad language. His friends kept telling him to stop because there were little kids around. Finally I had enough and went to the supervisors inside and told them. The result was that the kid had to walk around the perimeter of the pool 5 times, while touching the fence, before he was allowed back in the pool. By that time my daughter was ready to leave.

No because it's the same language I say in front of my children.

If I were in a situation where the contact was going to be long and unavoidable, probably would ask them to tone it down. but if I could just leave em standing there, that would be best. I would rather enjoy that scenario as a matter of face. the look on their face would be classic.
