Any infection is treated with antibiotics. If it's an allergy or virus, they won't help. Gargle with warm salt water or use throat sprays and lozenges to help discomfort.

A sore throat needs to be cultured to rule out strep, which is treated with antibiotics. If it is viral, antibiotics don't help. There are various sprays and losenges to numb and soothe a sore throat.

Go to a doctor and he or she will prescribe you something. For something that soothes the pain, try a mixture of sprite and orange pop (half of each). Don't use 7up because it doesn't have as much fizz and make sure you pour the sprite into the cup first or else you won't get maximum effectiveness.

Spray with some chloroseptic, take some motrin if you're in pain, try and rest...drink lots of fluids like orange/apple juice.
Try all the different lozenges...some work better than others, depending on the condition that ails you.

Obviously see your GP but if you can't get to one, and the chemist is closed, a tea made from sage, or rosemary, or lavender could be used as a gargle (when its cool of course).
Soluble aspirin used as a gargle also helps, or a tea made with lemon and ginger and just sipped is also good.
