I think this is more of a current issue. In the past, producers would stick with a band or performer through several albums before expecting to make a profit. This gave the bands a chance to really polish their sound and made producers more selective about who they would take on to begin with. Now, they are going for the quick buck, and will drop a group if their first album does not make enough. This allows groups with the broadest, most generic appeal (and least originality) the best chance to be successful.

I think it depends on your taste in music on whether or not you can find a great singer or band. Alot of the stuff that I listen to is considered "not good" by the majority of my friends, and I don't like alot of the stuff they listen to.

Because record companies want to sell CD's so they record a lot of stuff that will sell even if it's not good.

On the other hand music talent is that: a talent. If every singer/band have it it would be called other way but talent.

Because it's always harder to find what we want. Sometimes the harder it is to find the more we want it.
