Each soldier is only there for a limited term. Some like being there and are proud of what they are doing, some want to come home. You should ask them.
Actually what he said was he's not going to pull out before Iraq is secure...he's not going to leave it to go into chaos. Individual units rotate in and out. I think most soldiers sign up for 6 years commitments. I don't think any of them are deployed all 6 years, but I don't know how long the stints are or how many they are required to serve under the terms of thier service in the military. Keep in mind that all the troops voluntarily signed up for service.

They know exactly why they are there. What bothers them the most is to see the continued undermining of the program. Is rather demoralizing for them. Their own countrymen denegrating a sitting war time president and in effect, doing the same thing to the military. They are not that pleased with their fellow americans. Not to mention, the comfort they are affording the enemy by attempting to demoralize the troops. Shades of Viet Nam all over again...It was thru the efforts of such denegration that the US didn't win there. Too much political intervention. With Kerry being the most visible instigater.

I live in one of the biggest military towns in US. I have constant contact with soldiers and I always ask them what do they think about the situation in Iraq. although probably I don't get enough information to come to a conclusion, most of them don't think we should be in Iraq and they express constantly that we should have never gone there. When I ask about the president they always say something to the fact that Bush is full of BS or that he's an idiot or crazy.
Since my business is closely related to soldiers I have to ask them and support them.

Well, most of the ones I've personally spoken to feel betrayed at Bush's stubborn blindness. They follow their orders, but wish the orders were being given by someone who actually cared about the troops.

Well, I don't think they felt anything.....when he never told them that.
First of all, some troops have already returned home.
Soldiers are deployed, in stages, and removed in stages....heck, my brother in law is in Okinawa, and won't be home for 8 years.....do I think it's because of Bush? No....it's where the military needs him.
Secondly, if the rest of the world wasn't full of Liberal leaders, maybe more countries would have stayed the course....Spain chickened out, Italy did, poland did, japan did, how many more chickens are there?
But hey, there's a problem in lebanon....france suddenly has 2000 soldiers?
Hmm....maybe they think they can get some free wine.

umm this is kind of a weird question considering i don't think many soldiers were jumping around in joy.

remember this is their job, they volunteered and signed on. They knew the risks when they signed on. They wanted to defend our country!

My heartfelt wishes to the troops overseas!

My brother in law in Iraq said "we felt as though that any person who's Daddy got them a cushy spot in order to avoid going to Nam, shouldn't be telling the Soldiers when he thinks we should go home".

I have loved ones who have been there are there or going back there. Why didn't you put this under military and ask the troops instead of people who havn't been there? typical liberal!

That's not what he said. Troops are coming home all the time, but more are sent to replace them.

seeing how they have a first hand view of what's going on over there they probably would agree to stay and finish the mission , it is going to be a long time but they started and must finish .
