Get in touch with UCAS. They ought to be able to help.
There is clearing for undergraduate level. It makes sense there could be something similar for post graduate.
I wish you well in your ventures.
What do you want to do a post grad in?

There is always a chance, but it depends upon the number of existing applicants for the course and the number of places that the University can provide for it. Many courses at post-grad level run with places available on them, unlike under-graduate entry. So, if you know the course you want to do the next thing to decide is where you want to study it. Once you know that, contact the institution involved and ask to speak with the admissions tutor for that individual course. They will be able to tell you whether there are places available, what the tuition fees are, and whether they would accept you / interview you. By applying directly to the institution you can circumvent the clearing process entirely.

To give some level of how late you can leave it, I spoke with the admissions tutor for my undergraduate degree less than ten days ahead of the start of the course. I signed the enrolment paperwork at just before lunch on the first day of the course. The University accepted a direct application on the basis of a conversation I had with the admission tutor, who made a direct unconditional offer. I returned the paperwork on the first day of term, the administrators at the local education authority and the University did their processing in time for the fees and loan to be sorted out within a fortnight.

With a postgrad course it's even easier as it's likely that you'll not be eligible for fees or loan support and will be paying them yourself, so you can leave it as late as the admissions tutor allows you to. Check the funding position however as post-graduate study can be very expensive indeed.

Well Peter, if you already know which uni you are going to do this at contact the admissions tutor to find out if there are any places left. If they can get you in then they probably will. They are normally very helpful in these situations. It is not unusual for people to start a course a couple of weeks after it has begun so there is still time.

If you know the university you would like to do your post grad year in, you could try getting in touch with them directly. At this time of the year, they will be trying to make sure all places are filled, and so they may be in a position to take late applicants. If you can actually go there in person to make your enquiry, or perhaps, after a phone call, ask if you can come along to speak to someone, this can help - staff like to meet potential students.

Good luck!

I will tell you why you should wait if you want to apply this late in the game - and that is financial aid. if you are hoping to get fin.aid you need to apply early because your chances of getting more or any at all are so much greater (scholarships too) ..so if money is a concern to you then keep this in mind because one more semester of waiting could mean saving you a lot of cash. Good luck though, whenever you decide to go!!

UCAS do, do a postgraduate catalogue of courses. Get in touch with them straight away or try phoning some universities, that's what I did and ended up on a postgraduate course (passed it now). Plus with some postgraduate courses you can get grants, so if you get on a course find out what financial help you can get.
