With gas prices and oil money being used by terrorist, and with the Earth naturaul resources slowly being used up. Would it not be smart to look in to other way of producing power? That are not coal or gas related but something that we and use over and over again. What do you think is it a good Idea or do you have something that you think need to be looked into more. If so should the county push thing in that dicertion.

YES! The US is a world leader in technology. The government is too caught up in the revenues generated by Oil taxes to want to push anything else....especially Renewable sources. However, they could make it a cheap investment for the tax-payers, and could still produce high revenues by promoting it's use, and conversion. They have to see the forest for the trees. We as a country could free ourselves from the grip of the oil nations, and still make a mint selling the technology.

Aren't idealists cute?
You're asking a question that millions before you have asked. Where are their answers?
Despite my cynicism, I'm asking the same questions you are. However, I've gotten past the question of "why doesn't somebody else push the issue" or "why doesn't somebody else find a solution" and now I'm doing something about it.
A good place to start finding out about what can be done, what is being done, and what part you can play in the grand scheme of it can be found at the National Renewable Energy Laboratories:

Many companies are working on just this problem. There is currently a lot of research going on in genetics to create enzymes that can turn switchgrass and other non-consumable leaf products into ethanol.
It is unclear if the government needs to get involved with this. I don't know how much help a bunch of lawyers can be when it comes to genetics, or chemistry, or any other fields required to solve this problem.

Personally, I think that using renewable resources is not only a wonderful idea but also necessary. I admit that I'm not completely educated on the subject, but I've heard of using leftover vegetable oil, ect. from restaurants to fuel your car. If more people would become concerned, maybe it will become a reality.

Then Slick Dick Cheney will lose money from Halliburton. Bush will lose out on his oil company investments. In fact Bush cut research funding into alternative fuels by half. Of course that's not because he's an oil guy or anything right?
Get rid of the oil guys in the White House, and we can start.

We HAVE to, because the oil supply is finite. Some experts say that we have maybe another 10 - 20 years before all our reserves are tapped. But nothing like this will happen soon, because there's no real money in it.

Sure. We should encourage it. The best way to do that would be to get the government out of the way. Stop giving subsidies to energy corporations. If we stopped corporate welfare and protective legislation, the free market would inovate and we could all vote with our wallets on what kind of energy source we wish to support.

Kennedy said we could put a man on the moon in 10 years, I think we did it in 8. If we had a real president that wasn't worried about his royalty's from oil we could do it..
