well, it depends what sort of jackets you're talking about, but i'm thinking you're talking about cropped jackets.

Also sometimes called a Waist Coat,... because it is styled to never go past your waist. I personally like to call them the anti-fat-coats. Coz they don't hide your middle, they motivate you to stay in shape.
Often I have to take something I like but can't get ready made, to a tailor/seamstress just so that I can have the "look". They have to chop off the excess material, and take in a little here and there.
I swear its the only way you can get something completely unique, that everyone else doesn't have.
Unless you have your own sewing machine to make alterations yourself. You can save a bundle of cash just altering new clothes to make it "Just for you and one of a kind" Even going to a thirft store and find something with potential, trim and tuck - in a couple days, something totally new and completely one of a kind.

the ones that look more like sweaters or dressy, are called cardigans and sometimes shrugs and the denim ones are called shrunken denim jackets...according to seventeen magazine and sometimes cropped jackets(hope it helps !!!)
