That's just how it works. However, sometimes, people pick the answer they feel was most interesting and explanatory. Here's your options...
1) Answer an opinion question the way you think they would want you to and hope they pick you.
2) Answer it honestly with your opinion and give your reasons and hope they think your answer is interesting and informative.
3) Don't answer questions of opinion.

I, too, often find many people ask questions as if seeking opinions then choose the "best answer" which validates their own opinion.
I think you are right.

I usually don't go through a whole lot of other peoples questions and answers. It is something I will think about more from now on. Thanks for the eye opener. I will check a few out.

Yep, that's why the ask. They are just seeking self-validation.

Yep, pretty much. Though sometimes I will pick one that's helped me understand why someone else would form a different opinion.

people see what they really want to see. They want to see the answer they think is right to pop up , sure they will vote for it .
yet there are authentic seekers around. its hard to answer their question. they vote INSIDE and will keep asking until they find in them.

Sometimes it's that way. But so what? Many people do not have "the courage to know what they know". They need backup.
