Get a small saucer and put it in the tank. Push it into the gravel so the edge is even with the surface of the gravel. Just before you turn out the lights for the night, put some algae wafers on the saucer. Wait 2-3 hours and then turn on the light. There will be tons of snails on the plate eating the food. Just lift the saucer out of the tank and dispose of the snails.
Or you could start all over with the tank from scratch. Remove the fish to another container and pour a half cup of bleach into the tank for every 10 gallons of water.. Leave the filter running and let it set for 24 hours. The snails will die along with everything else that is left in there.
Snails lay eggs on everything in the tank, including plants, so everything must be bleached.
Or you could get a product called "Had-a-Snail" and treat the tank as directed on the bottle.

I had the same problem with a 55 gallon tank, I accidentally got one in my tank from a plant. There were so many that they actually clogged the pumps. Really there is only one permanent solution. This will actually be easier with a 10 gallon vs. my 55 gallon. Transfer the fish to another temporary tank or sanitary container, take the other one out to either the bath tub, or better yet, outside so you can use the hose. Put 2 cups of bleach in the tank, fill it, and leave it sit while you completely do the next step. If you've taken anything out, filters, airstones, ETC., check them thoroughly for snails or jelly-like egg masses about the size of a dime or smaller. Clean that stuff off completely, (I'd soak in a light bleach mixture and rinse, soak, rinse, soak), if you don't, you'll have the same problem in a month. Once you've left the tank sit with the water/bleach mixture, drain it into a safe area, (that's why the tub works well), and rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse. Refill the tank, treat the water and away you go! Any more questions, e-mail me!

first, never use snails to clean tanks, they are bad. if u want the tank to be clean, buy some algae eaters
to kill the snails, there's a special potion that can just wipe out all the snails, u can buy that in a aquariem
