The Lord of the Rings and Titanic won many Oscars in the last 10 years.
If "Best" means, overall quality, filming, script, acting, music, true to the book, courage, challenging social issue, innovation, viewer experience, cohesiveness of the story, and sense of story: I would pick Gandhi. But that was 1982. In fact the historical record of non-violent resistance was in small part an inspiration for Martin Luther King.
I have to question, why limit to Oscars and the last ten years. Bladerunner does deserve more recognition as well.
