Direct and Indirect Free Kicks

The simple difference between the two is this: On a direct kick you can score by kicking the ball directly into the goal. On an indirect kick you cannot score. An indirect kick must be touched by another player before it can go into the goal – that is the kicker and a second person.

In general, a direct kick comes from a contact foul or hand ball. Everything else is indirect.

Hi, a direct free kick is when the player that is not adjudge to be in control of the ball takes out another player or a player commits a deliberate handball, a corner is also a direct kick, you may score a goal without another player touching the ball from this type of kick. A indirect free-kick is all other fowls that are committed a goal-kick and a throw-in are also indirect dead ball situations where the ball must be touched by another player, does not matter weather it is a attacker or a defender before going in the goal. The referee will indicate the difference by keeping one arm raised above his head when a indirect fowl has been committed, and will lower his arm only when another player has touched the ball.I hope this will help.
