It's important in that age group not to overdo it, as very often their bones have not "set". Children of that age don't really understand the concept of exercise but do understand the concept of play. Games such as "catch" in a circle with the winner of a good catch going to the centre of circle and being able to throw the ball to anyone as a surprise, a modification of this would be rolling the ball. Party games such as musical chairs, relay races with no "stacking" of teams, even races walking backwards or sideways but remember at these ages children get bored very quickly.

I 'd suggest a sport like soccer to start of particularly if they are all going to be involved. The littler ones might not have as much muscular coordination and when your just starting out soccer is more about learning the game then handling the ball. Swimming is also another good sport for kids. But you can also try them out on martial arts which is great for young kids. It teaches discipline, control and allows them to let out their energy.

go swimming, basketball, soccer, softball. sign them up for a sport that they like. Gymnastics would be really good for their gross motor skills.

best thing ever for kids:
rock climbing.
take them to an indoor rock climbing gym.
it is awesome and works for all different learning styles and speeds.
It requires core strength, agility, rythym, problem solving.
plus, its not expensive.
shoes - 50$ for kids
chalk bag- $10
punch card- usually 40$ for 10 visits.
I rock climb and often take one of my babysitting kids. she is amazing!
rockclimbing has made her so much sharper in all other areas- problem solving, strength, and agility, plus it boosts self-esteem.

i think somekind of karate is good because they workout you punchs and kicks by streching and contracting the muscle when you do the workout. i know i got bigger after karate when i was younger. and you probably wont have to worry about you kid about being bullied and him or her not do anything about it. the karate class should teach them discipline and how the should and shouldn't use what they know. i know it set me straight.

There are fantastic "kid dance" videos out there.
Or if you are a good dancer, or know of one, you can choreograph your own.
Lots of fun and great exercise too.
