If it is uniformily gray it only means it is humid.
If the sky is darker in one area and that section is moving towards you then you have a good chance for rain.

no cuz i live in texas and we have a gray sky all alot and we dont get anything so no it does not mean it is going to rain. but i am from texas so depends were your from i guess

The sky is always blue. When it rains, the moisture in the clouds becomes so thick that it blocks the sunlight. Folks on the ground are just looking at the shady side of a thick cloud.

No, it means a higher rate of humidity. The clouds are think with humidity and absorbing the blue light reflected from the suns rays bouncing off the atmosphere.
