Put the drive in, screw in the screws, plug in the cables. Not much else to say to put in a random "Disk drive."

Don't spend $40 to install a $7 floppy drive. That's just dumb. The problem is, every computer chassi is different. First, how old is your computer? Do you have a make and model number?
If it is an hp/compaq, go to their site for support. They have by far the best web site for technical support and even have people who can walk you through the process.
Some other brands also have support documents on their site to walk you through the process.
I'll give you a quick rundown.
1. Get an anti-static bracelet. This will ground you so you don't fry your computer when you go inside.
2. Open the computer. Some computers have a side door that's easy to remove, others you remove the entire shell.
3. Figure out where the floppy belongs. In an older case there is probably a litlte cage that will hold it. The cage either has clips or screws holding it into the case.
4. If the floppy can be inserted directly into the cage and screwed in, then do it. If not then you may have to remove the cage, insert and screw the drive in, and then put the cage and drive back into the case.
5. Attach all cables. For your floppy drive you need to attach the ribbon cable which connects to the floppy and the motherboard and the power cable which comes from your power supply.
If you're lucky you'll have an easy case, but some of those old micro-atx cases don't give you much room to work with. Good luck

It depends upon the Supported Disk type at that System Main Board
Generally it is 40 pin IDE
Use a standard 40 pin IDE Cable
Match the Nautch with the upper nautch area.
I guess you can easily understand the size analogy
Just connect another cabel to the Main board
Start your system Go to BIOS settings
hint Genarally the Key used is
DEL
F1
F2
(May depend upon the Main board)
Detect the Drive in the BIOS
Save the BIOS settings
and Restart the system with CTRL+ATL+DEL
And you had done it

You've got some good answers so far. But I would "ground" myself before getting into the computer.
