I fed my cat the new Whiskas 'Oh so fishey' pouch on Thrusday and went to work, when I came home he had thrown up the whole pouch, all over the carpet. Ive cleaned it up and scrubbed the carpet with all kinds, but I cant get rid of the smell.
Ive tried Flash, Bleach, kleeneze carpet cleaner. The smell is not as strong but its still lingering. Any surggestions. Throwing the carpet out is not an option.

Make sure the carpet is dry then sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on it, leave for a little while then hoover up - should do the trick!

I use a dedicated pet smell remover called Simple Solution available at most good pet stores(we get it from Pets World) and it cleans allsorts of stuff and leaves a smell that is not attractive to animals ( so they dont keep doing it in the same spot) a little expensive but it does the job. Good Luck.
just thought ....how about billing Whiskas for a new carpet?!?

ok so theres a smell lingering well.................................. you have 2 options
1. get the carpet profesionally steamed and cleaned
(this option can be expensive but shop around you could get lucky )
2.1001 carpet cleaner is like a tin of foam u spray it on and leave it and it will leave the carpet really fresh .
(this is a really cheap option as there like £1.50 )
good luck hope u get rid of the smell

The smell will go in time.
Try sprinkling some essential oils on the carpet. I believe, if they are good quality, they will leave no marks - but best test it somewhere discreet to make sure first!

Fish is an oil based odour, try something biological like colour safe washing powder. Then when its dry sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda, leave for a couple of hours and hoover. Repeat that a couple of times.

it will linger as it is acid stomach contense, i would get a carpet cleaner in about a weeks time it goes deeper than you can. It sounds silly for one spot but its the only way to get it out.

Eventually the smell will go away, it just needs some time. In the mean time try lighting candles or using different fragrances to make your room still inviting.

Put some bicarbonate of soda in a dish and leave it in the room, it will absorb the nasty odour.
By the way, my cat threw that stuff up too!!
