yes you have a Right! your vote does count! and so would the votes of all the people who don't vote like close to 25% of the population , this is a Federal Republic We vote for people to represent US! all the anarchy and demonstrating has some effect! but King George is still there right! it is our right to agree to disagree, yes attend those school board meetings and voice your opinion and fax your senators and congress people as free speech gives you the right but the only way to get Real change in local and state and Federal government is by railing the people to vote and participation in our government process .it works! look at 1992 . and BTW you are going to see a very large Percentage of people voting in 2008! You were kind of right. Her vote does matter, especially on the level of a School Board and City/County Officials. I've seen people get on a School Board by default because they ran unopposed and there was minimal voter turnout. If we aren't going to do our part in the system, then we shouldn't complain about the system.

If someone is willing to waste energy complaining here, why not just continue to complain all the way to the voting booth?

Give me a candidate worth voting for and I'll go to the polls.

Yes, I feel voting gives you the right to bytch. If your not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. But then again, if she is an illegal alien, or a felon, she can't vote.

You are correct! that is one of the problems with this country. Apathy among the masses is what is helping drag this country down.Politicians know this. That is why they can get by with not working for the people anymore.Folks will vote for their favorite mediocre performer on American idol, but are too damned lazy to go vote these bums out of office.

if you can vote and don't, then you have no right to complain. just think though of what could be done if you could get enough people to vote for what you want. start small. local, and unimportant civic groups first. then one day, maybe you too could be president.

I agree with you. If you don't vote, don't complain because nothing will change unless you make the effort.

Completely within your rights to say it, but I also completely disagree.

In many situations, voting is a waste of time. But speaking out never is. So, just because people don't feel like spending hours of their time changing the vote tally from 1% in favor to 1.01% in favor doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinion.

Our ability to speak is much more a level playing field than most voting ever will be. And we can influence many more people with our voices than our single vote ever could.

Voting is important. But speaking out, rallying people, exploring ideas -- these are all much more important. Because without free speech to explore the issues, it really doesn't matter who votes.

The results of a vote are not based on who votes. It's based on what choices they have. And those choices can only be created through free expression and exchange of ideas.
