Just get a one gallon empty milk container, fill it with water, and keep dumping all the water into the tank. Count how many times this takes until the tank is full. That's how many gallons.

Measure the tank's width, height and length in inches and multiply (W x H x L) to get the cubic inches. Then divide by 231. The answer is the # of gallons.

EX. 12" high x 18" long by 10" wide.
12 x 18 x 10 = 2,160 divided by 231 = 9.35 gallons

That will tell you the volume of the tank in linear measurements but you must look in the dictionary or a math textbook to find oout what a gallon of water measures then convert the numbers. The easiest is to get a gallon jug and count how many it takes to fill it.

you could pour 1 or 2 gallons in and measure the height. Then measure the height of the tank and multiply by the # of gallons you put in.

Don't ask walmart anything. Walmart shouldn't be trusted with fish.
Use this:
http://www.fishlore.com/ConversionCalculator.htm

scroll down to the tank volume to gallons convertor. Enter your tank's dimensions and it will tell you how many gallons your tank is.

It will be listed on the packaging of the tank, if not use the dimensions of the tank to figure out volume.
