I haven't found a diet to help....I know I can't eat corn. I take a prescription medication called librax. I just take it when I have an attack with very severe cramps. Librax works great for me!!

There are a number of natural/nutritional ways to help with IBS
Check out this article http://www.newhope.com/nutritionsciencenews/NSN_backs/Mar_00/irritable.cfm
Also, the book Murray, M. and Pizzorno, J. Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine (1998) - avaiable at many libraries (also you can go to Borders or whatever and just read it and take notes) which has a good section on IBS
Peppermint oil (enteric coated capsules) seem to be most helpful for treating symptoms, yet are just part of an overall treatment including diet, lifestyle, stress reduction, etc.

My husband also has IBS and does not take medication for it. Basically, stay away from acidic foods, and foods that contain caffeine (which can irritate it).- if you eat more of a bland diet, it will help with symptoms. Fiber is debatable because IBS goes from constipation to the opposite.

Eating right is always better than taking prescription drugs.....

My sister has the same thing. I suggest going to a health food store. She takes natural supplements for it and was also told what foods to stay away from and which ones are healthy. She was also told recently at the chiropractor her back was out. After he popped her back into place almost all her symptons were gone. Sounds weird but her gave her this chart that shows how that can cause it or make it worse. If interested I will give you her email address. She knows so much about stuff like that.

There is actually a great way to help you. There is a product called Primal Defense made by Garden of Life. You need to try this. You can get it at health food stores but it is cheaper online. It will help heal your entire digestive system.
