i have stayed a night with my girlfriend, lucky it was a promotional offer and we had to pay just $1500 for a night, otherwise the room we were in generally costs around $3500.
the fascinating things in the hotel are:
the muntaha restaurant: situated at the very top where you have a glance of the whole city while having your meal or
the Mahara private dining, where you can watch dolphins and other sea creatures while having your meal.
the other interesting thing is that whenever you reserve for a room in the hotel you are often asked the three ways to reach the hotel: land, water or air - if you choose land, then you will be received from dubai international airport via fleet of limousines or rolls royces, and if you choose water, then you will be asked to board a submarine from the Jumeirah Beach and if you ask for air then you will be welcomed to the hotel by helicopter, which lands on the helipad, at the top of the hotel.
the hotel room has revolving beds, on call butler facilities, 24 hour luxury servings and many more, it is really hard to explain in writing, so i recommed you to go there especially look out for promotional offers or discounts on the room rates.

Its the Burj Al Arab in the Jumerah beach area, right next door to Wild Wadi. One interesting fact is that it was designed by a German architect and if you look at the hotel from a certain angle you can see that in the hollowed out section is a cross shaped like a crucifix. The Dubai authorities threatened to take legal action against the German Firm for taking the mickey out of an Islamic state.

We have stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Dubai and it was the best hotel we have every stayed at. Huge private beach, beautiful extensive gardens, fantastic staff and really elegant and peaceful.
A new hotel where you can get a great deal - we got a free upgrate to a suite - is the 5 star Grovesnor. Book through key2travel. You get complementary drinks/afternoon tea and canapes all day. As it is new they are trying really hard to impress so goo value for money at the moment.

In transit, one night. It was awful. Like when the recently rich want to show off. Big money, small taste. Some would be impressed, but they would never impress anyone with a little taste. It's like a Rolex covered in diamonds and saphires. OTT.
