Well, there HAVE been a lot of studies about the rising incidence of math illiteracy ("innumeracy"), which might account for it. The poor fellows simply can't count or measure accurately....
If you'll accept a snarky answer from a cynical nurse (who does like males, really, except when they're being utter turkeys): if most men were really built like they THINK they are, they'd need wheelbarrows to get around.....

I am quite happy with me tackle,it does the job it was designed for,and gets rid of the waste i don't need,so my size has never been a factor for me-if all men were honest,we would all like a tad more below,and if all women were honest,they would agree!!Mine is nowhere near 12"-but it does exactly what it says on the tin:-)

I have been told that the men that say they have a lot have a little and the ones that say they have a little have a lot. I don't know from experience but more than one woman has told me that.
