It's a sink hole, Cut our losses now and get out now !
If we don't, you can bet the draft will be initiated. Who wants to fight in an unpopular war that only serves the needs of the very rich. Especially, when this administration is allowing the use of nuclear dirty armament (depleted uranium armament). I don't need my insides falling apart not to mention my DNA. Further, this country will be so broke, they won't be able to care for all the sick vets. It would be like sacrificing ones life to serve the likes of the devil: That's not for me.
I also, kind of think, "aliveandkicking" may have a solution to keep it from turning real ugly after-wards. At the very least, it would keep it out of the control of Iran: if that is worth anything.
To bad it would make the Bush administration look like the most stupid people on the planet.

Neither George Bush or Tony Blair will never admit that the Iraq war was a total blunder, destabilizing the middle east and the counter balance to Iran which was Saddam Husain's Iraq.
So it will fall, to the bravery of the next President of the USA, to say "lets bring the troops home", and i say "bravery" because we all know so much has been sacrificed.

Sun Tzu wrote that "in the absence of a compromise the greater force prevails" Inadvertently I am sure, that is what the insurgency is doing. The insurgency is making the US and Iraqi governments compromise with their tactics. IEDs compromise mobility and safety, Sectarian violence compromises stability. My advice would be to make them compromise. Instead of $80 billion dollars for security and "peace keeping", the US should sink $40 billion into improving their infrastructure (IE sewage, water, industrial investment) Do this in a mixed Shia and Sunni neighborhood and localize security. When the neighborhood improves and people prosper. Then the insurgency will have to destroy something that is in all Iraqi's interests. This will make them compromise their tactics to keep up the support that they get. It would be important that there is as little American involvement in this process as possible.
Also, there should be a greater emphasis on Intelligence on who is supplying the insurgents. And actually listen to the intel that the current US administration deems "politically unviable". Find the source and then find the enemy. Remember, governments don't work in the middle east as they do in N. America and Europe. There is strong regional influences that a lot of time trump national ties.

Exterminate the Shi'a that are being supported by Iran... Next exterminate all the Imams and Mullahs in Iran along with the leaders. If they object to that exterminate them too. The alternative is to give up and bow down to Mecca 5 times a day.

What is responsible for this conflict is the American interest in trying to impose the minority shite Muslims on the Sunni Muslims. it was intended to create divisions among the iraqis and it worked. but the million dollar question is how do anyone end this.
My humble suggestion is that America should allow true democracy to take its course in Iaq. People shold be allowed to choose who they feel would best protect their interest and not just someone who would be ready to auction everything he has lived for only to satisfy some fantasy crazy people on the their quest for fantasy, wealth and adventure

I would command our troops to actually shoot any iraq personnel on sight that was holding an assault rifle that refused to drop it. Then I would further that by strategic bombing and killing while leaving civilian casualities to a minimum. We need to actually start waging war instead of being securtity guards over there, for they only know harsh action words are useless.

I would start by taking all the mindless monkeys on this page who say nuke them or drop more bombs and move their families into the most intense war zones. If they had any idea of what war was doing to innocent people, they might become more human themselves. I won't call them idiots because they haven't evolved that high yet.

Other than killing everyone, there is no good answer to that. I don't believe we can leave now. It will take a long time. I don't know how we can change the hearts and minds of people so radical. I don't mean all Iraqis when I say that.
