Speaking in tongues, is a gift of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is speaking through you, not for you. It is for a purpose, to express something that the Holy Spirit wants to express through you, it often happens during worship to God and it can be a way of praising God.
When I have spoken in tongues. I have felt a vague awareness of the sense of what I am saying, but not necessarily the actual words. There should be someone else present who is able to interpret the message, which is what is says in the Bible; but in my experience this doesn't always happen.
It is quite difficult to understand your question - some of it doesn't seem to make sense. Do you mean that you didn't believe what was happening to you, when it happened, that you didn't believe in your own experience?
It is very unwise to get involved in evil - which is what voodoo is - I will ask for God to forgive you.

I hope this helps:>)

Hello Silver,

I think tongues in the Bible was given by the Holy Spirit for specific purposes and only when there were people about who could understand the language they were talking in. Which as i understand was an actual language. If you are a christian and talking in tongues you may like to get a good interlinear bible and or concordance and do a bit of a bible study to see if what I'm saying is true. BYE

Speaking in tongues was for the early church and not todays church. In biblical times, the christians spoke in tongues or different languages to non believers in Christ. The gift was meant to bring glory to God by spreading the Gospel in other languages so that other peoples would understand and believe.
However in todays church, speaking in tongues is all fakery, because the gospel has already been spread in every language, for everyone to understand and believe, if they choose. Today's tongue speakers chant gibberish, mocking God and making fools of themselves. Who understands this gibberish? It seems to bring glory to the mumbler and not God. They say "I am speaking to God and He understands what I am saying" Well, if you don't even know what the gibberish coming out of your mouth is saying to Almighty God, I'd think again before I prayed that way. You could be cursing God without even knowing it.
