Braided rugs can be washed in commercial laundromat. Do not spin dry.
Cotton rugs same way.

Some have machines that will accomodate rugs. That is the method used by a professional cleaning establishment.

How To Clean Braided Rugs

PLEASE...Number One: NEVER rub your dog's nose in ANYTHING as a method of punishment or other behavior modification. If you really thinks this works it's because you are looking at a scared dog(s) and scared dogs are unpredictable dogs. Training has to be done after ALL exercise needs are met since exercise solves 90% of what owners perceive as "bad dog" problems; then discipline assertively BUT NOT aggressively; then affection - the bond will be like no other.
NUMBER TWO: vinegar will most likely NOT remove the odor but only mask it for awhile. A cleaner with an enzyme/bacteria culture in its spore state will do the trick and is relatively inexpensive. I've also had great success with Simple Solution even on my mattress pressing my nose to it after it's been fairly saturated and DRIED! It's widely available and better (in my experience) than the popular Nature's Miracle and usually a bit cheaper! Petco often has great sales on Simple Solution! This will also prevent your pet from revisiting the same spot. It's the odor and instinct that makes them return/do it so it's not their fault. There are no bad dogs just untrained dogs with no positive behavior modification in place!! ;-]

Dilute a cup of vinegar with a cup of room temperature water. Apply to the rug and blot with a clean rag. This helps with the odor!

If it is a small size rug, wash it in your machine.
If it is larger, take to the automatic laundry mat, and put in the Commercial Machine.

I use Resolve to clean it and then baking soda to remove any residue sent. Let the baking soda dry, then vacuum it. Rub your dogs nose in it, spank its butt, tell it know. That will help prevent future occurances. Do it every time it pees.
