Heidi are you about 26-32 years old? I JUST went thru this. It's not that you aren't happy---- it's because you are uncertain about your future, and your not sure if you want it to continue on it's path the way you are. When you long for someone from your past, what it is you are really doing is longing for who you were those many years ago. You think by recapturing an old flame or old friend you will recapture yourself and who you were at that time. You long for a simpler time in your life, or at least a time that feels more comfortable to you.

Yes -- the meaning is a obsessive loneliness and dissatisfcation that become focussed on the "missed opportunity."

I've wondered about that too because I've done it. Sometimes I think it's ESP or telepathy. Maybe you have a need this person might fulfill. I honestly don't know.
