Whats wrong when a van doesnt go over thirty miles per hour and doesnt go reverse?

it sounds like it has some kind of transmission trouble with it,,you might have to take it,,and it checked out real good,,it may be in need of serious repair before it does all the way out on you,,i hope this help,s some.

Is it fuel injected....May be a throttle position sensor. I was dring a brand new Ford freestyle with the salesman.....I pressed on the gas and it felt like it was so bogged down regardless it stopped running over 30 and it was the throttle position sensor. If the Puter doens't know where the throttle is it shuts down.

It does sound like the transmission, most transmission shops will give you a free diagnostic check, it may be as simple as bad vacuum line or switch.
