You can choose not to be induced. They told me that my baby was going to be late, but it turned out that she was a couple of weeks early. She was covered with all of the white stuff . I will never be induced again.

The safest thing for you to do to bring on labor yourself would be to walk as much as you can tolerate and make love with the baby's father.

My daughter had her first baby two weeks ago. Her ob/gyn swiped her membranes on Monday and her water broke early Thursday morning. Has your doctor done this? By Thursday afternoon her contractions hadn't started so they induced her. Realize now, she was due 8/21 and this was 8/10. She did choose to have an epidural by midnight that night which she originally wanted NO part of, but in the end, she was so very happy that she had it.
Talk with your doctor. Is your doctor a man or woman? I don't mean to be sexist here, but my daughter had a young woman doctor, and she was FANTASTIC. Good luck, hon.

Oh, one more thing I read recently that is safe, eat some pizza or other food that contains basil and oregano. They felt those two herbs might have something to do with the onset of labor.

Castor oil can cause the baby to pass stool while still in uterine. Which can cause problems with breathing and lung function if it is inhaled during delivery. I tried it twice around 40/41 weeks and it did not put me into labor but my baby did pass stool inside but she was okay. Castor oil supposedly works only if you are ready or close to delivery. Your doctor can wait up to two weeks before inducing labor not in less there is something wrong. Ask him to wait

I do not understand why the doctor is so anxious to induce. Is there a problem?

Walking is a good inducement. Lots of fluids.

if doc is sure u r 40+4 ther's no much harm in inducing. here in india, docs & patienst alike are too anxious & induce labor at 38-39 weeks. i dont support it. but inducing at about 41 weeks is ok.

i hope they dont use caster oil in ur place.
yes, sex can bring about labor.
sweeping membranes is easiest, & without using any artificial thing. labor is very smooth. induction with sweeping membranes is sure to bring about labor very easily in this getation.

I'm probably gonna catch some flak from the women on here....but sometimes, when in late term, labor can be brought on by having sex. (I don't mean the "just lay there and don't move kind") I know, for many women, sex is the last thing on your mine when they're fat and miserable but hey, it worked for my wife and I many years ago.
Sorry, I've never heard of parsley tea hurting a baby???
Best of luck to ya!

Castor oil is not good for you or baby, makes baby go to the baby during delivery and that is not healthy.

Just let the doctors do what they need to do and get it over with.

OK here it is, lol.
Have sex. There is something in semen that will help soften the cervix. I had two kids with in a day of having sex. One of them was early so my last two the Dr. told me after 6 months that I could not "do that" lol.
Good luck

If all is OK, I dont see why they want to induce. Is there a better reason then how far along you are?
